Please refer to this page often as race day approaches. We will provide all of the resources that you need to successfully manage your dragon boat team for racing at the Delta Dragon Boat Races.
Here is a short list of duties and expectations of a Team Captain:
Represent your team through pre-event communications and during the event
Relay ALL information provided to you out to your team members so they are fully informed
Arrange for payment for your team's registration fee
Prepare the team roster and manage your paddler's online waivers with the High Five Dragon Boat staff prior to the event
Attend Team Check In on race day
Attend the Team Captain's meeting on race day
Relay all pertinent updates to your team on race day (i.e. schedule changes and race progression)
Ensure that your team members know when and where to be throughout the day
Assist High Five by ensuring that your team is following the rules (i.e. no alcohol consumption on Race Day!)
Rosters and Waivers
Team Roster Forms will be emailed to each captain approximately 4 weeks prior to the event. The Team Roster Form is an active Google Doc that can be monitored for Waiver completion. Please have your final team roster completed no later than Monday, September 2, 2019.
The online waiver of liability must be filled out by each and every team member that will be getting into a dragon boat during practice or on race day. The completed waivers should be submitted no later than Friday, August 30, 2019. Please contact each team member individually and advise them that this task MUST be completed in order to race! If you have paddlers without access to the internet, please contact us to make arrangements.
Each team registration includes a 1-hour practice session. Please select a time and day that works best for your team and email your first and second choice requests to Practice@highfivedragonboat.com. All teams teams are strongly encouraged to have a team practice prior to the event. The practice will have important information about safety procedures, as well as some basic race techniques and strategies.
